Kendra my best friend.  I miss you so much.  I remember us going out on the weekends for dinner to catch up.  I know toward the end I wasnt around as much but we always kept in touch.  You never missed mine or the kids birthdays or holidays.  You made us all feel special.  Even months after your death missing you hasnt gotten easier.  I know your in a better place and still looking out for us.  I remember my last text to you was I love you.  Rip

Terri Daniels - My Facetime Buddy

I want to share how much Terri meant to me and my family.  Terri wouldn't have needed notes but I am not the prolific talker she was. And by prolific, I mean Terri talked all the time. About everything, about nothing. A lot of times, you didn't even have to answer. She just kept on talking. And laughing. And talking.

I met Terri when she was a little bitty girl. She was so cute with her round cheeks and her huge pouf of hair. Glenda asked me to comb her hair once and an hour later I had to cry uncle and let her mom finish. Whenever we took the kids someplace and had to take 2 cars Terri always asked to ride with me. And during the ride, you guessed it, Terri talked.

Over the years Terri would call and we talked about so many things. School, boys, TV shows and movies. She had an encyclopedic memory for music. She could recognize a song from just a few notes. She could tell you who sang it, the members of the band, and other songs on the album. She could give you a synopsis of episodes of TV shows in such detail that you didn't even have to watch it. She loved going to movies (especially scary movies) and could recall the plot and recite the dialog years later.

We talked about school and how she loved working with the students at Arlington ISD and Special Olympics. We talked about how much she loved Joe and how well they understood one another even though he was limited verbally.

One day my telephone rang and I realized it was a Facetime call. None of my friends are into Facetime so imagine my surprise when I answered and it was Terry. From then on, we stopped making regular calls and became Facetime buddies. We Facetimed at the house and at the hospital and from the car. And a lot of times the camera was pointing at the ceiling. When I told Terri the point of Facetime was to look at each other while we talked, she just laughed. And kept talking.

During all the times we talked, there is one thing that Terri never did. She never complained. She was always cheerful and matter-of-fact, even when I knew she was tired, in pain, or just not feeling well. She always called to Facetime me no matter where she was. She talked about her brothers: Treis and how glad she was that he was happy and going to be a father. She talked about Tony and was so happy that she made it to his wedding. She talked about her dad, Kenneth, and the millions of exercise routines he put together for her over the years. And how she almost but not quite learned how to drive. She talked about her mother, Glenda, and how she always took her shopping and to the movies. And remembered to bring her Starbucks.

As Terri grew up, Glenda and I laughed about how much Terri talked. But this week, I figured out why. She had a lot to say, and only 39 years to say it. Terri said what she thought and meant what she said. And this is the message my Facetime buddy left for us:

Live your life with grace, dignity, love and laughter, even when challenges are put in your way.

And now, I will miss our Facetime chats. But guess who Terri is Facetiming now? God is a mighty fine Facetime buddy replacement. And I'm sure Terri is talking and laughing and waiting for us to join her and continue this conversation.

To the Daniels family
Terri was a very loving and giving person. She touched the lives of everyone that was fortunate enough to meet her. At the gravesite when the balloons were released, they didn't go right or left, but went straight up towards the sky. Tries , her brother took photos of the family and guests, and then released his balloon 2-3 minutes later. However, his balloon made no detours and it quickly joined the others symbolizing her spirit rising toward the sky.  Those balloons were released as an expression of our love for Terri to let her know she will never be forgotten.

To the Daniels Family,

On behalf of our son, Rudy Briceno, who attended Sam Houston and participated in Special Olympics, please accept our condolences on the recent passing of Kendra. She was there for my son and for his classmates. He loved her in return for her caring manner. When I explained to him that Kendra had died, he immediately said that she was his friend and that she was okay because she was with Jesus. He asked to keep the newspaper picture in his wallet. Although it has been 8 years since he graduated, we never forgot her and her loving, kind manner. 
She was a true blessing to all who knew her.

Though death has become so familiar to me, it makes it no easier for me to rap my mind around the fact that Kendra is no longer available to laugh, talk, and kid around with all of us. I will miss the stares that I so often got from her as she watched me in anticipation of breaking into a song, or dance! That look was almost the same as the one I got when I would switch into the role of Mom, in my attempt to help  monitor Kendra's healthy choices. It was all done out of Love, and I appreciate the receptive responce, for the most part, that I would get. Wow, I am so still struggling with this, as selfish as it may be. The truth of the matter is, I know that it is all well with your soul, and for that I give God the Glory! Much Love Always, Debbie

You have my sincere sympathy for your loss. I met Kendra 4 years ago at Sam Houston High School. It was such a great pleasure working with her these past years..She had such a sweet, kind spirit. I will miss her! She and I had the most fun in PE class with the students. She was always ready and willing to accompany the students to make sure they were happy.She always showed how much she cared for someone. I will truly miss the talks that she and I would have in class. She was an angel down here on earth, now she has her wings. Much love to your family.

Kendra's spunk, love for Special Olympics and Sam Houston High School, and her knowledge of the entertainment world is what I will miss most when I return to school this fall and not see Kendra every day. I appreciated her commitment to her work, fighting through health issues to come to work at the school she loved. I know, Kendra, that you rest in the arms of Jesus now, and you experience no more physical pain and suffering, but instead worship our Lord. We miss you now but I will one day see you again in glory.

A kind and fun loving soul, Terri will be missed dearly. There wasn't a movie she didn't see or a song she didn't know. She is with the Lord now. May we find comfort and peace with His guidance.

My prayers are with this family as you celebrate Terri's life and move through the days ahead. May you hold to God's promises and have peace at this time.
