Marguerite Williams Hahn entered into this world on July 14, 1933. On that date, she entered into the arms of her loving parents Robert and Dulice Williams and she rocked the world (in a positive way) of her older brother, only sibling, Bobby Ray Williams.
Marguerite Williams Hahn left this world on January 7, 2023. On that date, she entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, was greeted by her parents, her husband Edward Anthony “Tony” Hahn, her brother, Bobby, and a host of other loved ones who preceded her in passing. On that date, Marguerite left her beloved daughter Patricia “Patti” Hahn Smith and her beloved son, Tony Ray Hahn gently holding on to her hands and forever holding her deep love for them in their hearts. And for those blessed enough to have known her in her 89 and one-half years, she rocked our world with her humor, love, straight talk, honest and loving character.
Marguerite grew up in the small community of Graford, Texas where she graduated at the top of her class from Graford High School. She would laughing say that there were not enough fellow students to have a “top” or a “bottom” of the class – they were just all happy to be graduates. She moved to Fort Worth to pursue her education in business. It was in Fort Worth that she met the love of her life, her husband, Edward Anthony “Tony” Hahn. They were married in 1954 And lived out their life together in the Fort Worth area, mostly Arlington until Tony’s passing in 1979. Tony provided Marguerite with her two most precious treasures; her daughter, Patricia “Patti” Hahn Smith and her son, Tony Ray Hahn. These two precious treasures compounded Marguerite’s joy by providing her with five grandsons all of whom she adored; Eric Anthony, Tony Ryan, Aaron Michael, Kyle Joseph and Cory Michael. Again, Marguerite’s blessings were multiplied with the births of her seven great grandchildren.
To know Marguerite was to have received a gift from God. To know Marguerite was to know where she stood on an issue. Marguerite had opinions and was not afraid to share them. To have Marguerite as a friend was to have a devoted, loyal, trustworthy woman on whom you knew you could depend. Marguerite was a cheerleader to each of her children, grandchildren and to her friends. She offered words of encouragement, correction and support – the words were always seasoned with love. Marguerite often opened her home to her friends and fed them homemade, lovingly made meals. Marguerite’s closest (bravest) friends called her Tootsie. To have Marguerite as a neighbor was to have a friend who lived close by. Marguerite was always someone on whom you could turn in a time of need. Whether you were a family member, neighbor, co-worker, or newly met friend, Marguerite opened her heart to greet you and made you welcomed. If you received a hug from Marguerite, it was as though you received a hug directly from God. It was unconditional, filled with love, tightly held, warm and everlasting. To know Marguerite and to be part of the family of Marguerite simply means you had a living example of Jesus Christ in your life. May we all be so blessed as to remember Marguerite and pass-on the tradition of her loving kindness.
