She was the second youngest of twelve children/stepchildren of Valentine Materi and Katherine Schumacher. She was raised on a working farm with her brothers and sisters. She moved to Yakima, Washington during her teenage years where she met the love of her life, Garland Weber, where they eventually married in 1956. Soon after giving birth to her first-born son, the young family moved to Seattle, Washington where she spent most of her adult life raising three sons. She moved to Texas to live with her eldest son soon after the death of her husband, Garland. Three years later, she died peacefully on January 6th, 2022 at the age of 89.
Her entire focus and energy were spent on her family, staying home with her children during their informative years. She was a productive homemaker, where she cooked, knitted, crocheted, canned fruits and vegetables and cultivated a beautiful garden. She was a devout Catholic and later in life volunteered a good deal of her time to the local church. She earned an Associate Degree from Shoreline Community College in Seattle. She also had outside interests; such as playing cards, walking, talking politics and skiing. Later in life, she enjoyed some traveling to places; like Panama Canal, Maui and our nation’s capital as well as going back to her and her husband’s birthplaces. She had an infectious smile and shared her down to earth wisdom with anybody who would lend an ear.
She is survived by her three sons, Allan, Jerry and Steven and five grandchildren; Jeremy, Jeffrey, Christopher, Catherine and Cameron. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mansfield, Texas on January 29, 2022 at 11:30am and she will be buried with her husband at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington at 11:00am on February 10, 2022.
