Michael David Dye

January 21, 1959May 27, 2014

Michael David Dye, age 55, of Arlington Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 27th while traveling through Camden, S. Carolina for his work. Michael was born on January 21st 1959 in Tecumseh, MI . He graduated from Leavenworth High School, Leavenworth, KS in 1977 when he immediately joined the U.S Army in 1978. He married Roberta “Janey” Dye on August 31, 1982; in a simple unassuming ceremony. He was a devoted husband and father raising a son and 3 daughters while maintaining a successful career as an Engineering Project Manager in the Telecommunication industry. In 2002, he retired from this career and revisited his lifelong dream of adventure to set out for the open world in a quest to see the world; mile-by-mile driving an 18-wheeler for Schneider International. Michael was an honored veteran, which is likely where his passion for adventure began; serving in the U.S. Army from 1978-1982. He often spoke of his travels around the world, spending a good bit of his deployment in Korea.

Even when facing his untimely end, Michael was able to exhibit his true character against all odds to ensure the safety of those around him. He was a hero and will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to those who tried tirelessly to keep him here and to those who contributed to ensure a respectful lay to rest. Michael is preceded in death by his brother,Brennen Dye and daughter, Priscilla Nipp. Michael is survived by his wife, Roberta Jane Dye; son, Casey Dye; two daughters, Christa Davis and Jennifer Reeves; brother, David Dye; three sisters, Helen, Diane, and Carol; Mother, Celine Dye; Aunt, Molly McPherson ; grandson, Dillon and granddaughters, Jacqueline, Dharma, Elizabeth and Hunter; numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends and extended family; those of which include: Jimmey and Annie Nipp, Tom Parr and Erik Reeves.

I consider myself lucky over the past two years to get to know Michael as a friend. We met shortly after I started dating his daughter Christa. Michael treated me as a member of the family and he will live in our hearts forever.

My deepest heartfelt sympathies to Mike's family. Although he was a year ahead of me in high school, we frequently 'hung out' together with a few other friends every morning before classes started. He truly was a special friend to me and all who knew him. I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing and pray that God brings peace and comfort to those closest to him. God bless you all.
