

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Chapel, Arlington. Interment: His resting place will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Services will be officiated by Rev. Dr. George Newcomb and the Rev. Alvis Edmonson.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Covenant Hospice and Palliative Care of Fort Worth.
Mike was born Oct. 18, 1955, in Pierre, S.D., to Johnnie and Dobbie Goodman. Mike was diagnosed with cancer in February 2012 and braved many surgeries from complications. He was strong and courageous and he never complained. Mike worked in the mechanical construction industry.
Mike served in the U.S. Navy for six years, from June 1974 to June 1980, with honorable service discharge. He served on the USS Fulton and received the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the National Defense Service Medal. Mike served as first mate and escort to the admiral. He loved to fish, hunt, swim and dance and loved children as they loved him.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Goodman, in 2005 and great-niece, Briella Goodman, in 2013. Survivors: His mother, Dobbie Goodman of Arlington; daughter, Jessica Goodman of Pasadena; brothers, Toby Goodman and wife, Gloria, of Mansfield, Gary Goodman and wife, Pat, of Arlington, Joe Goodman and wife, Joyce, of Buda; sister, DeDe Goodman-Atwood of Arlington; nephews, Brian Goodman, Toby Jon Goodman, Benjamin Goodman, Casey Goodman, Kenny Goodman and Kris Chappell; nieces, Lauri Goodman, Christi Goodman, Deirdre Cannon, Kelly Goodman and Michelle Chappell; 11 great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
