Myrlon Ray Martin

He was born January 7th 1956 to Myrlon Rex Martin and Bonnie Spears Adams. He had 3 full siblings. Donna, Jerry, and Paula. Myrlon also had 4 half siblings, Myrlon Rex Jr. Martin, Ricky Martin, Ronnie Martin, and Keith Pool. While not bound by blood or law he had another brother. A best friend who was there for him from early childhood all the way through to the end. This brother was Larry Jones. He opened up his home for Myrlon to stay in the last week of his life and did everything with in his power to ensure Myrlon was comfortable. If everyone had a friend and could be a friend like Larry and Myrlon this world would be a much better place.

Myrlon married Helen North and had two children. Johnie Ray Martin in 1986 and Elizabeth Ashely Martin in 1990.

Myrlon Ray Martin is proceeded in death by his father Myrlon Rex Martin and his brother Jerry Martin.

Myrlon was known for his incredible work ethic. His determination was second to none when it came to this. Be it a teenager with a broken toe working in a Kroger or a man in his 60s fighting cancer he still went to work as a machinist. A career he had for almost 40 years. This dedication stems from his firm resolve to be self-reliant as well as being a provider to those close to him

Work is work but Myrlon had passions outside of the shop. He loved to be out of doors and more than that he was passionate to go fishing. Come early March through April you could be sure the Martin household was having at least a fish fry of crappie a week. Come May through June he switched over to targeting catfish often putting in a trip running limb lines with Donny Hogan and Johnie. Any heavy rain no matter the time of the year you could be sure to find Myrlon on the banks of a creek with a stringer full of fish. He took this passion and raised his son Johnie with it. Building a man who like him is always looking forward to the trips to the coast or to Tennessee. They would travel some for trips in Johnie’s youth. Many early mornings to go below the dam at Lake Granbury. Johnie was so young that Myrlon would have to carry him on his shoulders to the fishing spot the first few years. Myrlon’s last fishing trip was only three weeks ago with Donny Hogan and his last BIG trip was to Florida with Johnie Martin, and cousins Blaine Parker, John Martin and Pam Martin in 2019. It was here where you see him holding that massive Mahi Mahi. This trip was a birthday trip for Myrlon originally thought up by Johnie but Pam brought it to life through her exceptional experience and organization skills for these trips.

Myrlon also loved to camp and hunt every year when he could. From turkey, deer to even wild boar he could be found in a tree waiting for his next target. If you could find him that is. His last passion is metal detecting. His finds ranged from old coins, gold rings, to even a few guns.
