Norma Jean Handbury

She was 98.

Norma was a long time former resident of Rogue River, Oregon, She was raised in Iowa. There she married her husband of 71 years, Richard "Dick" Handbury. They moved from Iowa to Rogue River in 1952 with toddler daughter, Joan, aged 2. Over the years they added 2 more daughters, Karen in 1954, and Lynne in 1960.

Norma and Richard owned a successful contracting business, "Handbury Construction" and built many homes & business offices all around the Rogue Valley. Norma did the books while also caring for their home and small farm on West Evans Creek Road.

Richard and Norma were active in city government. Richard was mayor from 1997-2001 and held chairman positions on the school board and fire board for years. Norma was on city planning from 1995-2003.

Eventually they bought land at 515 East Main St. in Rogue River which became Pioneer Mobile Home Park in 1979. Norma operated the park until she sold it in 2021. She relocated to Arlington, Texas, in May of 2021. By then daughters Joan and Lynne lived in Arlington, too.

Norma leaves behind a large family of 3 daughters & their husbands, 4 grand-children, 4 great-grandchildren & a new great-great-granddaughter on the way. She leaves a legacy of love in all of their hearts.
