Norma Jean Wilson, 90, of Arlington, Texas, peacefully entered her heavenly home on February 12, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering strength, determined perseverance, and extreme generosity.
Norma was born on August 13, 1934, in Birdville, Texas, which is now known as Haltom City. She graduated from Birdville High School in 1952, and proudly worked for Bell Helicopter for 35 years. Norma loved reminiscing about the past and took great care to document her life story, focusing on fond memories of her early years. She was a woman of resilience, overcoming many trials of difficult health battles with a spirit of determination.
Norma was fiercely generous, always ensuring that those she loved were cared for. She found joy in serving her church through Women on Missions and providing arts and crafts supplies for Vacation Bible School. Her creative spirit was displayed through her skilled craftwork—paintings of animals and still life, intricately carved woodcraft, artistic sewing and dress-making, and treasured Christmas ornaments, each one a tiny masterpiece. Her designs were always clever; for example, she used a garlic press to create the flowing hair of an angel or the needles of a pine tree.
She was the heart of her family, lovingly known as Grandmother. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, giving them the best back scratches and telling them the silliest stories. More than anything, she loved taking them to the farm in Cisco, Texas—a place that held a special spot in her heart ever since Grandpa first introduced her to it. In her later years, she found comfort in the company of her beloved cat, Boo, who was gifted to her by her grandson-in-law, Andy.
Norma was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Dwayne Dill (affectionately known as Grandpa), who passed away on December 31, 2005; ex-husband, Jim Wilson, who passed away on October 3, 2010; and her eldest son, Steven Wilson, who passed away on October 17, 2010.
She is survived by her son, Michael Wilson and his wife, Jan; her grandchildren, Rebekah Lahey and husband, Andy, Sarah Wilson and husband, Jaime Carbajal Arambula, Greg Davidson, Nickolas Wilson and wife, Laurie, and Alexander Wilson and wife, Candace; and her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lahey, Oliver Lahey, Gabriel Lahey, Violet Arambula, Ashton Marcum, Aubrey Wilson, and Crosby Wilson.
Though Norma has left this world and is now with Jesus, her love lingers in every story she shared, in the Christmas ornaments that will hang on trees for years to come, in the rolling hills of the farm, and in the hearts of those who love her.
