Peter J. Conlon, Jr., of Arlington, Texas, passed away unexpectedly October 28, 2016. Born 8/24/51 in Staten Island, NY, Pete graduated from Monsignor Farrell H.S. in 1969, received B.S. Business degree from Syracuse University in 1973, MBA from UT Arlington in 1978. Pete served in the U.S. Air Force from 1973 - 1979 on active duty and 1979-1994 Active Reserve, and retired as Lt. Colonel in 1994.
After retirement, Pete worked in the financial industry for several firms before opening up his own firm, Conlon Financial Advisors & Associates in 1989. Pete was also a trained arbitrator and mediator, and very active in the Tarrant County Association of Mediators.
Pete was very active in his community and was a Board member of the Arlington Sculpture Garden Foundation, a member of Citizens on Patrol of Arlington, a graduate of the Arlington Citizens Police Academy, a member of the Arlington South Rotary Club, and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. He was a long-time member of Aerospace Optimist Club.
For the last 10 years, Pete had been one of the coaches for the ADR competitions where students attending Wesleyan Law School, and subsequently Texas A&M Law School, were involved in. Because he was a qualified and certified FINRA arbitrator and mediator, he was their main coach for their FINRA competitions. He worked with the law students each year for at least six weeks to prepare them for the Triathlon competition where they had to not only understand a financial regulatory problem, but also negotiate, mediate and arbitrate the issues involving FINRA regulations and laws. They give Pete credit for the fact that they have won 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, a Special Advocates Award, and three Mediation Prizes.
Pete was well known in his neighborhood where everyone would see him during his daily walks with his beloved dogs, Sadie and Reba. Predeceased by his Mother, Alice V. Conlon 9/11/88, his Father, Peter J. Conlon, Sr., 8/16/06, and Grandmother, Rose Conlon, 3/25/89. Survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, sisters, Rosemary Conlon McCarthy of Houston, Alice Conlon Adams of Mohnton, PA, and brother-in-Law, Robert Adams, Captain USPHS, retired from Mohnton, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to U.S.O., Air Force Association, Air Force Memorial Foundation, Aerospace Optimist Club, and Optimist Foundation.
