Quintus Eugene Dougan, lovingly known as Quint (“Quinn”), passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 78 in Westminster, South Carolina. He was born on July 16, 1947, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Quint was a man whose life was defined by his deep love for his family, his devotion to his country, and the quiet strength with which he carried himself through both joy and hardship.
Quint was not only a son, brother, father, Papa, and friend—he was also a proud veteran. He served honorably as an E-5 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He wore his service with unmistakable pride. Whether it was a hat, a shirt, or a bracelet, Quint always carried a piece of his time in the Army with him. His service in Vietnam was a defining chapter of his life, and he honored it every day.
Following his military service, Quint began his career as a maintenance technician with Ben Hogan in Fort Worth, Texas, eventually rising to the position of Plant Manager in Ohio. During his time with the company, Quint earned two patents for golf ball innovations—a testament to his ingenuity, strong work ethic, and pride in his craft.
Quint is survived by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Katherine Grisham Dougan of Westminster, South Carolina; his son, Jason Dougan (Justin) of Benbrook, Texas; his daughter, Jessica Dougan King (Robert) of Forsyth, Georgia; his son-in-law, John Ward of Fort Worth, Texas; and his two sisters, Cheryl Dougan of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Eileen Dougan of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by his first wife and the mother of his two sons, Trina Dougan.
He is further survived by his five grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”: Allison LoPresti of Brooklyn, New York; Kate Ward of Fort Worth, Texas; Dakota of Waxahachie, Texas; Max King of Forsyth, Georgia; and Olivia King of Forsyth, Georgia. He loved them deeply and took immense pride in each of them.
Quint’s life was also shaped by profound loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Violet Dougan; his sister, Robin Olien; his son, Quinton Dougan; and his daughter, Shawna Ward. Though these losses weighed heavily on him, he carried them with quiet grace and continued to love fiercely.
A memorial service honoring Quint’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on April 7, 2026, at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Road, Arlington, Texas 76016. This gathering will be a time to remember, reflect, and share the stories that made him who he was.
A brief graveside service will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
Quint will be missed more than words can express. His love, his strength, and his unwavering presence will continue to live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and quiet courage that will never fade.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil: because I am the meanest son-of-a-bitch in the valley.”
