

Raul "Rudy" Gabriel Martinez, 74, of Arlington, passed away on February 6, 2024. Rudy, was born on June 16, 1949 to Raul and Alicia Martinez in San Antonio, Texas. After he graduated from Edgewood High School in 1968, he went on to study business at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, he moved to the DFW area and began his first job at AT&T, formerly Southwestern Bell, kick-starting a 31-year career in Business and Public Relations. In 1972, Rudy met Brenda Scott at Southwestern Bell in Hurst, Texas. Rudy and Brenda went on to have 4 children; Heather, Stacy, Justin and Brandon.
In 1978, Rudy and his friend, Victor Barrientos, found an opportunity to operate a restaurant within the Centennial Building at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Rudy went on to acquire three additional food + beverage concession stands throughout the fairgrounds, winning several food awards over the years. With the help of his oldest son, Justin, they expanded the growth of the company, which still remains in the family today.
In 2014, Rudy retired from AT&T and spent his time volunteering on various boards in the Arlington community, such as the Arlington Police Foundation and the Levitt Pavilion Arlington Board. He also loved spending time visiting his extended family in San Antonio and playing with his granddaughter, Lyla.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his infant daughter, Stacy. Survivors include his former wife, Brenda, of Arlington; his daughter, Heather Martinez, of Arlington; his son, Justin Martinez and wife, Megan, of Arlington; his son, Brandon Martinez of North Richland Hills; his brother, Rudolph and wife, Patricia, of San Antonio; his oldest sister, Cindy Garcia of San Antonio; his younger sister, Sandra Garcia and husband, Paul; and one grandchild, Lyla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arlington Police Foundation, an organization he felt strongly about.
A memorial service for Raul will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Rd, Arlington, Texas 76016.
