Raymond Robertson unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 surrounded by his family. 73 years “young” he was born in Goeshen, Oregon to Marion and Charlene Robertson but lived the majority of his life in Texas, most recently Arlington. He was a very smart man who was great with numbers and machines and worked for 29+ years as an Instrument/Electrical Engineer. Because of his can-do attitude Raymond always became the “go to” guy and because of his strong work ethic was respected by his coworkers and peers.
Raymond was also a doer and a worker bee who gave wholeheartedly of himself to many different projects through his years; Boy Scouts, Methodist Youth Fellowship, church usher, mission work, college-level and GED teaching, reading to the blind, neighborhood association board and office manager, Retirement Home President and council member, plus being general handyman, repairman and fixer to those in need. In fact the only project Raymond didn't like was an unfinished one. When he wasn't working or doing, he loved watching sports on TV, especially college football, golf and baseball, and especially the Texas Rangers. Other passions include spending time with his grandson, gardening, or helping his daughter with her house projects. He also loved to laugh, especially at old family stories told by his brother, and truly appreciated a good comedy. Raymond is survived by his wife of 53 years and best friend Martha, their “pride and joy” daughter Renee, their “precious” son Phillip, beloved grandson Aaron, and daughter-in-law friend Lesa. He is also survived by his two younger sisters Terry and Beverly and older brother Wayne. The life of Raymond Robertson was a special one and he will be missed by many. He will be remembered as a good, hard-working man with an amazing attitude and giving spirit that provided tremendous love and support to his family.
An informal memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 2 from 4pm-6pm at the Greenfield Residences in Arlington, Texas.
