Ronald Ray West of Arlington passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4th, 2018, into his heavenly home and onto glory. Despite a valiant battle with illness, his devotion to family and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ sustained him with a certain blessed assurance. Ron looked forward to going from labor to reward, as he anticipated a joyous homecoming with his Savior and long-awaited reunion with his beloved wife, Darlene, of 38 years.

Born on July 27th, 1941 to Glen and Ona West, Ron was a devoted husband, father and dear friend to many. He was a longtime member of Tate Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon for many years and lived out his hope in Christ. Ron also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

He shared a profound work ethic, as Shipping Supervisor at Menasco for 20 years and Hardware Supervisor at Vought Aircraft for 22 years. In Retirement, Ron enjoyed small engine repair and later equipment maintenance with the Texas Rangers for 3 years. He was an avid Golfer who loved Bowling, Rangers baseball, Square Dancing, Mountain Dew & Whataburger. But, his greatest source of pride was his family who adored his humor and his heart. Ron took great joy in watching his children and his grandchildren in their various activities live out their unique gifts and talents.

Ron was preceded in death by his true love and best friend, Darlene Boteler West and his parents, Glen and Ona West. Left in God’s care are his beloved children and their spouses, Laura and Philip Lowry, Kevin and Rachel West and Lance and Martha West. Ron loved to play poker. Although he lived in Arlington, each month he would travel to Frisco to join his buddies for a friendly game. He never failed to make a session. He will be missed by the group.

I’ll never forget his love of golf. He knew it well. I remember when he visited us in Sacramento when Tiger Woods was just starting out - he said Tiger’s back wouldn’t be able to withstand the stress Tiger was putting on it in his swing. Ron was correct. He was a fun guy to be around and he could dish as well as he could take. He will be missed. Ron and Darlene are united once again.
