Sherrian “Sherry” Clark Boling, age 75 of Grand Prairie, was called Home on December 15, 2020, in the arms of her children. Sherry was born on February 21, 1945 in Corsicana, Texas to her loving parents, Lenard Clarence Clark and Hazel Marie Bower Clark.
Sherry married Chandler Boling on July 1, 1977 - they celebrated 33 years of laughter and love before he was called Home in 2003. Together they raised and endlessly loved three children, Rodney, Russell, and Brandi, and later on 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Never was there a greater, eternal, pure, and unconditional love than how Sherry loved her family and friends. To know her was to love her and be loved by her. Sherry was affectionately “Mom/Grandma” to MANY others all her life. She had the innate ability to see the good in everyone and everything. Sherry was well known for listening and giving golden advice. It was a common occurrence to find Sherry sitting around her kitchen island at 2am with one of her kids, their friends, or anyone who needed her. Every holiday Sherry opened up her heart and her home to anyone who needed a family and good food. She spent her life selflessly giving to everyone and anyone who had a need.
Sherry always had a powerful relationship with God. God was her driving force in all that she did and it was evident in the words she spoke and in the way she loved. Sherry lived by “Be still and know that I am God.” All of children’s and grandchildren’s lives, they would come to Sherry when they would face difficult times. She always told them, “Be still and pray to God. His love is so great, he will show you how to get through anything and everything.” Those very words had pulled her through her own life challenges, as it did her children, grandchildren, and the many people she loved. She shared her sentiments for this verse so often, it became something precious to those who loved her. Several of her children, grandchildren, and dearest friends have “Be Still” tattooed in Sherry’s handwriting on them somewhere. Sherry also had this tattoo done at 69 years old.
Sherry was an avid poker player who loved nothing more than a good game of Texas Hold Em’ or Three Card Poker. She was a dedicated member of a women’s poker league that met weekly. Naturally, she fell in love with her “Poker Girls” and many of them soon became family to her and her children. Sherry loved starting her night off with enchiladas from El Chico’s or ending it with some good, greasy Waffle House. Needless to say, they lost a good customer and funding for their electric bill.
Even greater than the love Sherry had for her children was the love she had for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She started a tradition with all of her grandchildren when they were very young. All of her grandchildren would meet up at Grandma’s house and no parents were allowed. She and her grandbabies would partake in a tea party that consisted of insurmountable amounts of soda, sweets, and a few choice words that were to “stay” at Grandma’s house. These tea parties went into the wee hours and would end the next morning with her infamous biscuits and gravy. These tea parties continued on into adulthood for most of her grandchildren’s lives, even as recent as a few months ago.
There are not enough words or paper in this world to write about how amazing she was, the impact she made, the way she loved, and how much she was truly loved. She will be forever missed.
