Timothy Shorter’s Life Journey
A Time To Be Born And Learn Life’s sunrise for Timothy Shorter was March14,1972 to Leon and Ruby Jewel Shorter in Detroit, MI. He attended both Madison High School and John Marshall High School in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from John Marshall High where he was well known and loved.
A Time To Be Reborn Tim confessed his love for and his belief in Christ early in life. He studied for a deeper understanding of God’s word and of his faith and belief. Tim lived his life showing God’s love and lived each day sharing
A Time To Wed, Plant, And Nurture Although Tim knew Yolanda Wilborn, the love of his life, in high school; they didn’t begin dating until 1996. Their 22 year relationship included 13 years of marriage. In 2004 Tim proposed to Yolanda at his family reunion in Pine Bluff, AR while celebrating his grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary. They married the following year in Milwaukee. On August 13, 2006 Tim moved his wife and children to Arlington, TX. One year later, they welcomed the addition of their daughter Tatum. He was employed by Penske Logistics and South Star, LLC in Ft. Worth, TX for 6 yrs where he was accountable, reliable and well respected and held in high regard by his co-workers. They admired him for his knowledge and sought out his advice. He spent many moments outside of the work environment with his friends from Penske.
Tim was a great communicator and had a quest for knowledge. He had an inquisitive nature and loved to read. He took his children to the library and made them check out books. He was very involved in his children’s learning. He was very proud that all of his adult children graduated from high school.
Tim also loved to entertain and was the life of any gathering. The way he described situations kept everyone smiling and laughing. He never met a stranger and was always helpful to anyone. Nothing gave him greater joy than to be in the presence of his family, children and grandchildren. Tim was an excellent provider, protector, husband, father, son and brother. His family affectionately called him “Tim Tim” his nickname from childhood.
A Time to Die On January 1, 2019, Tim transitioned from this life to receive his reward. He answered the call of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On Tuesday he joined his grandparents: Fred & Fannie Wiley; three aunts: Shirley Wiley, Carolyn Shorter Bennett and Phyllis Stewart Shorter; and one uncle: Earl Carl Shorter; and a very special friend/ brother John Carter, Jr. aka J.C. who all preceded him in death.
A Time to Honor The Legacy Tim leaves to cherish good times and fun filled, loving memories, his loving and devoted wife, Yolanda Shorter; two sons: Karon Putnam of Milwaukee, WI and Timothy Shorter, Jr. of Houston, TX; six daughters: Tierra Wilborn and Tatum Shorter of Arlington, TX, Tyanna Robinson, Kyanna Virgil, Destiny Virgil and Brandy Virgil of Milwaukee, WI; two brothers; Steve Wilson and Maurice Shorter of Milwaukee, WI; Ten sisters: Monica Meadors-Shorter of Killeen,TX, Elisha Mallett, Catrina Johnson (Jerome), Adrienne Chappel (James), Evette LaTia Myles, Clarice Shorter-Erkins (Paul), LaKisha Hayden (Tom), Tazmia Dodd, and Bianca Jackson (Gary), and Shawnee Wiley all of Milwaukee, WI; Tashina Shorter and Ayodele Adelokun, of Dallas, TX; his parents: Ruby Jewel Shorter and Leon and Lavenia Shorter of Milwaukee, WI; his mother- in-law, Ruby Rodgers; father-in-law, Luis Camberos; his paternal grandparents: Curlee Sr. and Earline Shorter of Pine Bluff, AR. He also leaves two grandchildren: Jailian Love and Raven Love to miss his smiles and laughter. Two very special God-daughters: Brandy Perine (Jajuan) and Jacey Hall of Milwaukee; his 10 uncles and 7 aunts including an aunt and uncle who he referred to as his “other parents”, Herbert and Corlis Fitzpatrick. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends will also miss him.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

Just wanted to say that Tim was a friend and brother to me. When most of the people who grew up with us stayed the same Big dude as I called him decided to change his life and informed me Eddie this game has changed and you need to change to. I truly regret not calling you before this happened but once I found out you was gone I knew I had to come see you. Just know I loved you like a brother and you will always be missed. Love you

“All Hail The King”, King T as some addressed him just “Tim Tim” for me. The true essence of a man, with a heart of gold and an infectious smile. His parents raised an awesome respectable gentleman. As much as his untimely demise saddens us all we have the memories to cherish.
For the family may God bring you peace, comfort and courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.

What I remember most is how Tim loved my cousin Yolanda so much. I liked him immediately because of that. Our entire family loved Tim, as family. Not just the guy married to our cousin. I'm going to miss him so much as will my husband, Anthony, who knew Tim back in Detroit way back in the day. -- Tim probably still scratched his head about this one...At he and Yolanda's wedding I was a bridesmaid. I wore these jeweled stilletos. Standing up front during the ceremony I got light-headed because the circulation cut off in my feet. I sat down with guests. Tim turned around, like, what are you doing? It was funny. That was such a beautiful day. ~ We're so looking forward to hugging Tim in paradise! John5:25,29
