Willie Lagaly, age 83 of Arlington, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2019 at his home, with his family at his side. He was born on April 23, 1935 in El Reno, Oklahoma, the son of William Lagaly and Margaret Menz Lagaly. Willie married Dora Beard in June of 1957 and they celebrated 61 years of marriage together.
Willie met his wife at a young age when she worked at the ice cream parlor next door to the hamburger shop he worked at in El Reno, Oklahoma. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing card games, and was a member of the NRA. Willie and his wife are members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Willie was a member of the Men’s Club before his health declined and the Bereavement Group at the Church. Willie enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends and he will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Dora, Willie is survived by his children Janice Carter and husband Robert, Melissa Wight, and Bill Lagaly and wife Whitney; grandchildren Jason Carter and wife Jill, Kristy Dunbar and husband Jonathan, Patrick Ludwig, Nicholas Ludwig, Dustin Lagaly, and Kelsey Lagaly; step-grandchildren Jason Wight, Brian Wight and wife Laura, Marissa Astin, and Doug Astin; great grandchildren Jessy Ludwig, Piper Ludwig, Will Carter, Max Carter, Kylie Dunbar, Jayden Dunbar, Mackenzie Wight, Lucy Wight, and Robyn Wight; siblings George Lagaly, Gertrude Meiwes, Joe Lagaly and wife Margaret, Irene Perkins and husband LVan, Lawrence Lagaly and wife Betty and Mary Amato and husband Tom as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Lagaly and sister Barbara Berntsen.
Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service beginning at 8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
