Willis Day Calicott, of Arlington, Texas died August 14, 2018 at Oxford Glen Memory Care in Grand Prairie, TX at the age of 87.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Dorothy F. Calicott, of the home; his daughters, Kay Calicott and her husband, Charles P. Albrecht, of Chandler, Arizona; Dana Calicott of Blacksburg, Virginia; his son, Joel Calicott, wife, Genevieve, of Wilmore, Kentucky and their children, his beloved grandchildren, Josiah Calicott, Samuel Calicott, Norma Calicott, Benjamin Calicott, Efraim Calicott and Lidia Calicott
Willis proudly served his country as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 26 years as Lt. Col. He and Dorothy, formerly of Joplin, MO, lived in Arlington, TX. for many years where Willis was the head of IT for the Water Department for the City of Dallas. Willis will also be remembered for teaching computing at Missouri Southern.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends.
In honor of his service to his country, a brief military service will be held at National Cemetery of Dallas on November 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Mourners please use Lane No. 3.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of Texas.
