

Born March 18, 1938 in Hong Kong, Yuen Long New Territory, he was the son of the late Choi Kau Mui and Tang Wai Mui. He immigrated to Canada and then to the United States in the late 1960’s. He eventually settled in Boston, MA in the early 1970’s. A few years later, he moved to Houston, TX to be with his brothers and other family members. In 1994, he became a U.S. Citizen. Yuk Kai was a restaurant owner and cook. He traveled with his family around Texas to open restaurants in various towns including Houston, Sweetwater, Jacksonville, Nacogdoches, and Arlington. Yuk Kai was a member of the Arlington Chinese Church in Arlington, TX and was baptized on August 8, 2010. He retired in Mansfield, TX and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His favorite past times included drawing, painting, playing musical instruments, and playing Chinese chess, American checkers, mahjong, and pai gow. Yuk Kai enjoyed attending family gatherings and church events.
He is survived by his wife, Sau Ying Choi of Mansfield, TX; his daughter-in-law Tae Choi and grandchildren Nicholas and Katherine of Irving, Texas; his daughter, Jennifer Chen, husband Adam, and grandson Benjamin of San Francisco, CA; his son, Howard Choi, wife Becky, and granddaughter Greta of Plano, TX; and his daughter, Amy Skipper, husband Robert, and grandchildren Sean and Cindy Lou of Mansfield, TX. He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Choi, in 2023.
A memorial service for Yuk Kai will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, TX 76016.
