Alexis Mercado was born April 24, 1966 to Carmen Iris Mercado in San German, Puerto Rico. He was a quiet child, very close to his mother and a good student that enjoyed school. He attended elementary school at P.S. 157, middle school at I.S. 318 and East New York Aviation High School all in Brooklyn NY. He received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Cumberland Community College of Cumberland, N.J. and 5 yr. Journeyman Woodworking Apprenticeship from the College of Labor and Technical School of Manhattan, NY. Alex loved drawing, laughing and taking pictures. He was a very skilled carpenter and woodworker and characterized by his employers and colleagues as a well rounded technical and creative employee. He could fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand anyway he could no matter the task to be done. On Nov. 4th 2012 he met his beloved wife Vivian at Times Square Church in Manhattan, NY. They were married on Feb. 9th 2013 in Port Chester, NY. Alex and Vivian lived in NY till Nov 2018 where they made their home in Virginia. Alex was very proud of Vivian, he sponsored her and his step-children ensuring they would live in the United States having a better life. Alex and Vivian worked together at Burke Lake Gardens. Alex kind heart was shared with all at the retirement home, planting hugs and kisses on all residents. Alex is survived by his loving wife Vivian, step children Japhet Allen Marquez and Jolly Ann Marquez, his dear Mother Carmen Iris Mercado, siblings Madeline Bullock and Pedro Juan Rivera, Mother-in-law Lilia Lao, his nieces Jasmin, Ashley, Lauren, Lena and his nephew Tyler, his in-laws, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Alexis Mercado nació el 24 de Abril de 1966 de Carmen Iris Mercado en San German, Puerto Rico. Era un niño tranquilo, muy cercano a su madre y un buen estudiante y le gustaba la escuela. Asistió a la escuela primaria en P.S. 157, escuela secundaria en I.S. 318 y East New York Aviation High School, todas en Brooklyn NY. Recibió su título de Asociado en Administración de empresas de Cumberland Community College of Cumberland, Nueva Jersey y 5 años. Aprendizaje oficial de Carpintería de la Facultad de Trabajo y Escuela Técnica de Manhattan, NY. Alex le encantaba dibujar, reír y tomar fotografías. Era un carpintero y carpintero muy hábil y se caracterizaba por sus empleadores y colegas como un empleado técnico y creativo completo. Podía arreglar cualquier cosa y siempre estaba dispuesto a echar una mano de todos modos, sin importar la tarea que debía hacer. El 4 de Noviembre de 2012 conoció a su amada esposa Vivian en La Iglesia de Times Square en Manhattan, NY. Se casaron el 9 de Febrero 2013 en Port Chester, NY. Alex y Vivian vivieron en Nueva York hasta Noviembre de 2018, donde establecieron su hogar en Virginia. Alex estaba muy orgulloso de Vivian, la apadrinó a ella y a sus hijastros asegurándose de que vivirían en los Estados Unidos con una vida mejor. Alex y Vivian trabajaron juntos en Burke Lake Gardens. El amable corazón de Alex fue compartido con todos en la casa de retiro, plantando abrazos y besos a todos los residentes. Alex le sobreviven su amada esposa Vivian, sus hijastros Japhet Allen Marquez y Jolly Ann Marquez, su querida Madre Carmen Iris Mercado, los hermanos Madeline Bullock y Pedro Juan Rivera, suegra Lilia Lao, sus sobrinas Jasmin, Ashley, Lauren, Lena y su sobrino Tyler y una multitud de tías, tíos, primos y amigos. A visitation for Alexis will be held Friday, October 22, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Arlington Assembly of God Church, 4501 North Pershing Drive, Arlington, VA 22203, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
