As one of Angelo's many friends and bridge partners in northern Virginia, I just want to say that Angelo was a wonderful and kind man who everyone he played with and against at the bridge table thought the world of. We loved to hear his stories about playing with Al Roth and Bill Passell, the older brother of Mike Passell, currently the top masterpoint holder in the country, and how they taught Mike how to play. He also told us entertaining stories about playing golf with Joe Namath and Willie Mays, and about going into underground nuclear missile silos with armed guards. In March, I drove him to a sectional in Fredericksburg, VA where they hold a sort of "Pro-Am" BAM team/pairs event where the pairs with the highest number of MPs are paired with the pairs with the lowest number and so on. We had a combined total of over 14,000 MPs and were paired with two ladies who had 240 MPs. We were able to come in first overall in the team event and thrill our novice teammates. Angelo would still talk about that win during my visits to him in the hospital the last few weeks of his life. It doesn't rank way up there in terms of events he won in his past at NABCs or regionals, but it shows he still was on top of his game right up until the end. He and I also played in the Senior Olympics last September and won a Silver medal. He had a full life with no regrets, and I already miss my dear friend very much.
