In Loving Memory: Anissi Salloum Chaale
December 30, 1933 – April 30, 2024
Anissi Salloum Chaale, born in Kferram, Syria, on December 30, 1933, embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned continents and touched countless lives. Her legacy is one of unwavering dedication, compassion, and strength.
Early Years
As a young girl, Anissi moved to Lebanon, where she worked tirelessly as a mother’s helper. Her commitment to her family was unwavering, and she played a pivotal role in their well-being. She selflessly supported her brothers’ education, ensuring they had opportunities that she had also dreamed of for herself.
A Life of Sacrifice
Anissi faced adversity head-on. When her father fell critically ill, she stepped up to care for him, demonstrating her resilience and love. She also took on the responsibility of paying off family debts, determined to preserve their family’s lands. Her sacrifices were a testament to her character.
Love and Partnership
It was during her dedicated work that she met her soulmate, Espiridon. Together, they shared a bond forged through hard work and shared dreams. With a one-year-old child in tow, she embarked on a new chapter, leaving her homeland for the United States to join her husband at the Lebanese Embassy. Together, they laid the foundation for bringing their three older children, who were living with extended family.
Building a New Life
After a few years at the Embassy, Anissi and Espiridon continued their journey by purchasing a house in Arlington, Virginia. They worked tirelessly, saving every penny to create a better life for their family. Their determination and love knew no bounds, and they instilled these values in their children and cultivated a sense of community with longtime friends and neighbors.
Lasting Legacy
Anissi remained in Arlington until her last day, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Her legacy lives on through her children, who carry forward her spirit of resilience, compassion, and sacrifice.
