Ann Patrice (Painter) Pittman was born on February 25th, 1961 and passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2023. She is survived by her husband William Pittman, her mother Patricia Painter, her sister Heidi Olson and brother John (Jack) Painter. She was preceded in death by her father, John Painter. Ann lived life to its fullest and was a wonderfully loving and devoted daughter, wife, sister and friend.
Ann was born in Dayton, Ohio, and spent part of her early years living in Germany. Her family moved to the Washington area and settled in Bethesda, Maryland, which became Ann’s home. After Ann graduated from Roanoke College in Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Accounting, she went on to become a successful Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She began her career providing financial management support to various organizations, often with a focus on healthcare. She met her husband, William, during this time and was married in 1998. The couple settled in McLean, Virginia, and recently had their 25th anniversary. During the 2000 US Census, Ann took on a local leadership role, and as a result, met many dear friends who stayed with her for the rest of her life.
Ann eventually transitioned to government contracting and began a 20-year career supporting the intelligence community. She held various positions providing financial, data, personnel and security management at a wonderful firm in Centreville, Virginia. She was recognized with the firm’s prestigious annual Leadership award as nominated by her colleagues. Finally, Ann worked very hard to secure a Senior Financial Resource Officer position with a federal government agency, and retired from service in 2020.
Although Ann’s professional life was significant, she will be most remembered for her active and engaging personal life. She was a dedicated gardener, and transformed every spot on the McLean property with plant life. She spent many hours in her garden, and it was an envy of the neighborhood. She loved shopping and going antiquing on weekends with her mother and close friends. She joined a casual bowling league and had many great times with her bowling buddies. Bill and Ann purchased a home in Bethany Beach, Delaware which Ann made her own enthusiastically. Family and friends have spent many enjoyable times visiting and relaxing down at the shore.
Ann loved her four-legged friends. She began fostering and adopting dogs many years ago, and enjoyed the love and companionship of Sadie and Dixie. She extended this joy in fostering several other pups, and loved helping her mom care for Max and Charlie.
Ann will be most remembered for her unyielding devotion, unlimited kindness and great sense of humor to all those who had the honor of knowing her. While she was no stranger to several difficult challenges that came her way during her short life, she faced every one of them with incredible strength, grace and optimism. Ann will be greatly missed.
