Ann was born in Syracuse, NY, to Jesse Tuthill and Florence (Markey) Tuthill. She earned her B.S. in Nursing from Syracuse University in 1957. She met Bruce Storms, who would be the love of her life, while they were summer camp counselors at Camp Sloane in Lakeville, CT. They were married in 1956 and raised their three children in Ridgewood, NJ, where Ann also worked for Visiting Nurses and then for The Valley Hospital. After retirement, she and Bruce loved traveling and enjoying their back yard porch. She also enjoyed a long and active relationship with her Gamma Phi Beta sorority sisters, early on from Syracuse University and later through the Bergen County, NJ Alumnae chapter.
Ann loved life. She faced the challenges of old age with courage and grace, moving with Bruce to Alexandria, VA, to be near their daughter Katy in 2023. She still loved to make new friends, go out for lunch, or for a drive. Ann cared deeply for people and was a wonderful wife, mother, nurse, and confidant to her many devoted friends, old and new. The family gives thanks also for Ann’s wonderful caregivers in the final few years of her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Bruce, son Tim Storms and his wife Teri, daughter Katy Denman and her husband Chip, grandchildren Meghan Storms, Dan Storms and his wife Liz, Chad, Jay, and Will Denman, and great-grandchildren Anna and Henry Storms. She was predeceased in 1979 by daughter Sara Storms.
