

She was predeceased by her parents, Allen Boyd Harless and Agnes White Harless of Edenton, NC and her brother Allen Boyd Harless, Jr. of Edenton, NC.
Active in national politics, she was in charge of all campaign photographs of then Vice-President Bush in 1988. After the election she worked in the Office of Presidential Personnel in the White House.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Junior College in Raleigh, NC and attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
After college she worked in the North Carolina State Legislature. Following marriage she and her husband moved to Miami, FL where he attended law school and from there they moved to Arlington, VA. She was a long time parishioner of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Arlington where she was a vestry member. She also served as chairman, and member for many years, of the church altar guild.
She enjoyed foreign travel and had visited eighty four countries. She was a keen student of genealogy and was a member of the Alexandria Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames in America. She served as a docent at Dumbarton House and Gunston Hall. She also belonged to the Edenton, North Carolina Tea Party Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard H. Jones, three children, Richard Fraser Jones of Oakton, VA, Allen Harless Jones (Dawn) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Virginia Randolph Moore (Charles) of Falls Church, VA and seven grandchildren, Christopher Price Jones, Alexander Fraser Jones, Scott Rushing Jones, Quinn Harless Jones, Annie Virginia Moore, Molly Marshall Moore and John Elting Moore.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 15th at 11 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4250 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22207. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
