Arthur Garrison, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia passed peacefully on December 2, 2017. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 2, 1921. Art served in the U.S. Army in World War II and early in his career was employed at the American Railroad Association as an information analyst. He then developed a career as a photo journalist. His memberships include the American Legion, the National Press Club, Cherrydale Masonic Lodge No. 42, Unity Chapter No. 201 Order of Eastern Star and Cherrydale United Methodist Church. Art enjoyed travel and rooting for the Washington Nationals, Detroit Tigers and Ohio State teams. He was a loving and dedicated father to his daughter, Ann Garrison, who survives him. A viewing will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Arlington, Virginia with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Cherrydale United Methodist Church, 3701 Lorcom Lane, Arlington, Virginia, on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.

Art was one of the nicest guys I have ever know. He was for many years a valued member of the National Press Club where he often contributed his skills as a photographer. He was also a proud member of the Club's American Legion Post. I know his many friends at the Club and the Legion join me in sending condolences to his family.
