Barbara Ellen Bodson

Barbara E. Bodson, age 70, of Mclean, VA, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer surrounded by family on August 22nd, 2024. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Barbara was born on September 25th, 1953 in Stuttgart, Germany where her family was stationed while her father served in the Army. As an “Army Brat”, she moved often in her early years to places such as Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, where she met her future husband, Richard Bodson. The Brown family ultimately settled in Springfield, VA where she finished high school at West Springfield High. She later attended the University of Miami and remained in Florida until returning to Virginia to get married.

More than anything, Barbara was devoted to her family. She was a treasure to her children and took immense joy in participating in all aspects of their lives. Barbara was a lover of music, tropical weather, and all things fluffy, especially her “granddogs.”

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Richard, and their children Elizabeth Bodson (Robert Phillips) and James Bodson (Madeline Mahon), and her sister Marsha (George) Harris. She is preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Betty Brown.

Services will be held at 1pm Saturday, August 31st at Murphy’s Funeral Home located at 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203.

As a florist, Barbara was fond of flowers, but in lieu of them, she would be honored if you would donate to Ink Against Cancer or Food & Friends.
