

Bernard “Bernie” Joseph Venverloh Jr. of Arlington, Virginia passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026. He was 93. Born on December 4, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, Bernie lived a full and meaningful life shaped by his faith, devotion to family and career.
He was the beloved husband of (late) Joan A. Venverloh with whom he shared a long marriage. Together, they raised a family that brought them great pride and happiness. Bernie was a father to three children and grandfather to four.
A lifelong learner who put himself through college to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bernie enjoyed a successful career in aircraft design and logistics. Bernie also served in the Navy assigned to the Carrier Branch Flight Test Division at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Bernie also enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping and traveling. He was known to be thoughtful, intelligent, resourceful and a friend to all.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Louise and Bernard Sr.; his brothers Louis and Jerry; his sisters Betty, Virginia, Dorothy and Susan; wife Joan and his son Bernard III.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Bernie’s life will be held on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1910 N Randolph St, Arlington, Virginia 22207. The service will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside burial at 11:30 AM and a light reception to follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington.
