

Burdett Stryker Warden, Jr., age 85, passed away from heart disease on Thursday, July 26, 2012, in Springfield, VA. Burt was a graduate of the George Washington University and was in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was active in the Washington-Lee High School Class of 1944 alumni group. He served in the Army in World War II and was an engineer and senior program manager with IBM. He enjoyed spending time at his wife’s old family farm in Greenwood, WV.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda Warden and Janet Hawes (Dan); his grandchildren, Matthew (Christine), Margaret, Philip, Peter, and Kenneth Hawes; great grandchildren, Carter and Owen Hawes; brothers Stephen Warden (Libby) and Thomas Warden (Beate); brother-in-law Sam Habibi; sister-in-law Mary Ann Warden, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lee Borror Warden, who passed away July 19; his parents, Burdett Stryker Warden, Sr. and Elsie Jane Richter Warden; sister Nancy J. Habibi; brother Richard J. Warden, Sr., and nephew Richard J. Warden, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Greenspring Village Chapel, 7420 Spring Village Dr., Springfield, VA 22150 on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 11:30 A.M. to time of funeral services at 12:30 P.M. A lunch reception follows the service. Interment at 4:00 P.M. at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, VA, with friends and family assembling at the Cemetery at 3:45 P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington.
