Carole Lee McCowan

On Thursday, January 30, 2014, Carole Lee, 75 of Arlington, Virginia passed away at the Virginia Hospital Center, surrounded by family after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of John K. McCowan, with whom she enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Jean Osterman and husband, Dave of Pennington, NJ; sons, Jeffrey Scott of Arlington, VA and John Henry and wife, Maria of Falls Church, VA. Carole was blessed with seven grandchildren she loved dearly, Allison, Cori, Tyler, Daniel, Eric, Kobe and Jesse. She was a loving wife, mother and "Grammy" whose sharp wit and cheerful personality touched all who had the pleasure of her company. Mrs. McCowan enjoyed spending time with family, solving crossword puzzles and was an avid movie critic. Her sense of humor and warm smile will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nina and Henry Wegner and a sister Jean. A funeral service will be held at MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA on Monday, February 3. Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
