

Dr. Charles N. Toftoy died on November 11, 2025. Chuck was born on March 18, 1935 at West Point, later graduating in the West Point class of 1958. He achieved an MBA from Tulane University and a doctorate in Strategic Planning from Nova Southeastern University. He was a highly decorated ranger paratrooper. He coveted his two purple hearts, combat infantryman's badge, master parachutist wings with gold star for combat jump, and the Ranger tab.
After serving twenty years in the military, Lt Col Toftoy retired and worked in the corporate and academic sectors. He taught in The Business School at George Washington University for seventeen years, selected nine times by students for the best teacher award. Among his many awards, his favorite was being awarded the Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award at the regional and national levels.
He enjoyed mentoring students and enjoyed nature, spending time gardening in his backyard, which is a certified Backyard Habitat with the National Wildlife Association. He competed in the Senior Olympics for many years. He was dedicated to his church, St. Paul's Parish in Foggy Bottom, DC, having been a member for many years. Chuck and Patty, his wife, conducted Pet Therapy at many locations in Arlington nursing homes, rehab centers and assisted living facilities with their therapy dog, Zoe.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, of sixty-one years, and two sons, Eric and York, plus nephews, Ken, Mark, Dan and niece, Candi and 200 cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 3, 2026 from 3pm-7pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22203. A funeral service will be held at a later date at the Old Ft. Myer Chapel, followed by interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
