OBITUARY

Charles David Walsh

January 21, 1949November 20, 2017

Charles David Walsh (68), better known to his friends and family as “C.D.” , passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 20, 2017 with his beloved Suzanne by his side.

C.D. was born in Troy, NY on January 21, 1949, the youngest son of Richard & Angela Walsh. He was the much loved baby brother of Richard and Anthony Walsh. He was an avid sports enthusiast and a gifted athlete- serving as captain of his high school baseball and basketball teams and as a club All American football player at Georgetown University. After graduating in 1972, C.D. remained in the Washington, DC area and became a larger than life personality in the local bar and restaurant industry.

No matter who you were- the boss or the busboy- CD always took the time to listen to you. We will miss his infectious laugh and his sarcastic jabs. God Bless CD and God speed.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2017 between 6-8pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA . A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 3305 Glen Carlyn Rd, Falls Church, VA 22041.

CD was larger than life. Heading back to DC for only second time in more than a decade and hit Google and found this. Last time I saw CD about 4 years ago we picked up like it had only been a week since we last spoke. We gave each other a big hug and then of course started up teasing one another. His laugh, sarcasm and most importantly his generous and warm nature are missed. Lunches at CDs bar reading the NY tabloids were so fun. He was so kind when I moved to DC in the 1990s from putting in a good word at Carlyle Grand Cafe to help me get a job to introducing me to other friends around DC. My DC friends all remember fondly seeing CD at Mike Bakers and ACME and of course when he came into see me behind the bar at Carlyle. Truly a classic. Suzanne so sorry for your loss. CD Rest In Peace and save a spot at your bar. I’ll see you at Happy Hour again one day.

Memories of CD are as fresh today as ever because he was entirely memorable.
I met CD when I was 15 years old and over the years that followed there were wonderful times with CD and all who loved him.
As time passed on we lost touch but I will always remember CD and Tony and
Richie and their parents.
May he Rest In Peace although I imagine him making heaven that much more fun and joyful - playing tunes and making everyone smile and laugh until
there are tears in their eyes.

So very sorry for your loss. It is often hard to find relief in this time of sadness. May the God of all comfort be with you and give you peace (Romans 15:13) during this difficult time.

Ahh, CD! So many memories, so long ago. Shaker, Saratoga, Lake George, The Embers, you at second, me at short, shooting hoops in your driveway, your scary-fast yellow 67 Vette, talking about girls and baseball, your terrific brothers and parents, and so on. RIP old friend.
