Dan thundered through the lives of his family, friends, and everyone he touched. The fifth of seven children and fourth consecutive boy, Dan grew up surrounded by the competitiveness, camaraderie, and love of family. In youth he embraced sports, scouts, and any reason to be outside. By eighth grade Dan joined his older brothers Tim and Tom on the high school rugby pitch and he went on to play high school rugby and ice hockey. Dan’s love of nature continued throughout his life, from camping and hiking to planting what grew over time to a thriving natural sanctuary at home. And Dan had a passion for music. He spent countless hours playing guitar, on keyboards and drums, writing, and performing songs. He walked his own path, finding meaning caring for dogs and connecting with people as a waiter or tending bar.
Dan is survived by his parents, William and Donna Donovan, his siblings Meaghan, Gerard, Tim, Maura, and Kateri, eight nieces and nephews, and too many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to count. He was preceded in death by his brother Tom.
