

On Saturday, April 20, 2013, of Arlington, VA. Born in Washington, DC to Charles W. Heiss and Lillian Readmond Heiss, Dorothy was raised in a loving Catholic family. While working at a local bank she was a “war bonds” girl during World War II, serving as spokes model for saving for the war effort. She married Charles Artley in Washington DC on June 5th 1948 and had her first born in the city before moving to Arlington, VA, to raise the rest of her family. Besides being a loving mother and homemaker she volunteered for St. Agnes School and Church in Arlington, Arlington Hospice and cared for Charles’ extended family. Beloved mother of Bob, Tom, Janet and Steve, loving grandmother to Tristan, George, Ben, Eric, Paige and Emma. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 24 from 6 to 8 pm; Rosary at 7 pm, Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA. Interment at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax VA at 10:30 AM Thursday April 25th. The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to those who care for people with Alzheimer’s disease.
