I was shocked and very sad to hear of Ed's passing.  This man would do anything for you and he would do it with a smile.  The kids really loved him.  You could see this in their eyes when they would give him a big hug at the airport upon departure from the D.C.area.  You could see it when they gave him "high 5s" when they  returned to the bus after visiting a site in Washington.  So many of the tour leaders would always comment on how he was the best there was and always requested him each year.  He will be very much missed by so many people.  He was a treasure.

I can't tell you how sad I was to hear about our dear Ed!  Oh, how I loved that dear man.  What a great friend he has been! Ed has driven my Los Alamos, New Mexico group for nearly 30 years. Besides by me, he was so loved by thousands of students from Los Alamos.  Whenever I see my old students, they always ask, "Mrs. Cocking, how's Ed?"
I loved my job with New Century Tours and WorldStrides because of my friendship with Ed!  How I will miss him when I have to return to the east coast to work! 
His love for our Nation's Capitol was evident with every tour group! I can hear him say, "We're out of here...this place is history!" I would learn something new everytime I was on his bus! A student last year said, "Ed, if you were my history teacher, I would love history!"
Please know that in my time with Ed, whether driving on the bus or eating a meal with him, the conversation was always about how dearly he loved his family! How he loved you Joyce and his sons! How dearly he loved Dana and his other grandchildren.  How blessed we were to have this wonderful man in our lives and how sorely we will miss him. God give you peace in his absence!

Dear Joyce and Family, Ed has driven many of my groups and they always loved him and continued to ask for him every year. I will never forget some of the road adventures we have experienced together and fondly remember when the two of you came to the NCT Christmas Dinner in Annapolis and we all sat together! Dear Joyce and Family - I was deeply saddened to hear of Ed's passing. I had the great honor and pleasure of not just working with Ed, but knowing him as a cherished and beloved friend. I just want to let Ed's family know how much he was loved and treasured here in Clinton, Wisconsin. He was our school's requested guide to Washington DC for over 23 years. Students and parents who knew of him would request to be on his bus way in advance. Hundreds of people here remember Ed emblazing each place we visited with the saying, "This place is history." He was so helpful when I needed answers and direction. I appreciate how Ed's faith encouraged me and I know that he is at peace with his mighty God.
