Some of your neighborhood friends were together yesterday and we talked about the things from your home with Elizabeth that are now in our homes and in our children's homes. The two of you made a welcoming space together and we're happy to have some mementos of those times. And we're happy that you have found a new love to make a new home with. Happy New Year.

I remember Elizabeth Pigg from Taylor, where I had Elizabeth Danielle in Extended Day.  Elizabeth Danielle was usually one of the first kids dropped off in the mornings, and Mom and Dad were always pleasant, in a good mood, and stopped to wish you a good morning and chat for a few minutes.  And I do remember her wonderful laugh.  One of the things I remember is that Elizabeth Danielle had a monogrammed backpack, and I would tell her it was not hers, that it was Ed’s backpack.  Mom came in one day and said that she was almost ready to call her Ed because there were so many Elizabeths in Kindergarten.  She had a great sense of humor, and I know she will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathy is with Dan, “Ed”, and Elizabeth’s family and friends.

I was so sorry to read of Elizabeth's passing. Lizz was something else again. So much life and charisma all over the place. (And, I have to add, a classic beauty. I still remember Christie Poulton exclaiming in her South Carolina drawl, one time at Mary Washington when Lizz had removed her glasses and taken down her hair, "Oh, Miss Pigg!") The tribute video is achingly beautiful. She lived her life fully, so present for every moment. Comfort and solace to her family, who I know must feel her loss so keenly.

I just learned of Elizabeth's passing yesterday. Condolences to Dan and family during this time of mourning and remembrance.

Sincere condolences are sent to the family. I worked with Elizabeth at the U. S. Department of Agriculture., Natural Resources Conservation Service. Will  always remember our conversations and those Girl Scout cookies she sold. Rest In Peace, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth, 
I will miss her. She was a good and kindhearted soul. And she and Dan loved each other very much. I enjoyed the times I would visit Dan and Elizabeth.  She was funny and always had a good spirit.

I remember Dan and I were involved in a bike accident a few years ago. Elizabeth came and picked us up since both our bikes were un-rideable. I later found out I had 9 fractures in my ribs. Elizabeth drove Dan and me back to our  cars with our bikes. Her sense of humor and banter as she drove us back helped me make it thorough that long day. 

I will never forget that. She was very special.

Dan and Family,

I worked with Elizabeth for several years at USDA's Washington Computer Center and then the Fort Collins Computer Center. Even when I was working in the Middle East, we managed to stay in touch. Our online chats were a lifeline as I adjusted to my new environment.

Elizabeth was so bright and quick to learn. She was a great role model for other young women at the Centers and I'm sure she affected many of their lives and careers. 

There are so many memories. One of the strongest was her laugh. That throaty laugh that was contagious and could make you smile if not just join with her.

I found this in one of my journals:

The Laugh

The phone rang. 
She asnwered it. 
A voice said "Can you laugh please"?
She replied, "What"?
The voice, "Please laugh. I need to hear it once more".
She laughed that wonderful rumbling, tumbling laugh.
The voice said, "Thank you. I'm better now".
And the connection was dropped.

What we wouldn't give to make that call.

Please know that you are in our minds and hearts.

Elizabeth was my best friend for 35 years. We met as colleagues when everyone was young and healthy. We shared the best and worst of life experiences; marriages, births, deaths of parents, severe illness, and everything in between. Elizabeth had the sweetest, most generous spirit. I will dearly miss her and grieve with Dan and Elizabeth. She adored them both.

I have known Elizabeth most of my life, as she was one of my mother’s closest friends. Elizabeth was such a generous person, and I will remember her warmth and her deep love for her family. Sending much love to Dan and Lizzie.

Elizabeth was my sister in law, and my big sister by marriage. She was supportive and sympathetic. She gave me advice about raising my sons and complimented my efforts. She welcomed us and our chaos to her home and Nico and Andrew  have many happy memories of visiting with Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Dan. She hosted me when I came to DC for work and listened to me ramble on about conferences and grants. She gave much time and energy to helping others- organizing family reunions in the Outer Banks, directing GS Cookie sales, making and delivering hundreds of Christmas cookies, and so much more.  She had a unique skill for identifying the things that gave her joy and acquired them, like china and Pandora beads, and it was fun to share her enjoyment. I miss her and wish I had more time to visit. But, I know that she is resting without pain and distress now. 

Elizabeth was a vibrant woman with a big heart, and I know she will live forever through  our  memories of her.  We are cousins, and I remember her as a child — camping with our families and seeing the movie “The Vikings” when I visited her family one summer at Fort Meyer.  As an adult, I remember her lovely smile and great organizational abilities rounding up everyone for a Nagshead reunion.  Dan and Elizabeth Danielle, I know Elizabeth will remain with you always in your hearts,  l hope your pain lessens with time, and you are able to focus on all the good Elizabeth brought into the world.

I am grateful for having been a part of Elizabeth’s circle. She had a remarkable ability to gather faithful, kind, and interesting friends. I enjoyed the events she orchestrated because of the wonderful people I met. She had the gift of “gathering” and I will miss those good times and her big heart.

Elizabeth and I have been close friends since high school.  I hold dear her wit, charm, generosity, and intelligence.  She lived life to the fullest through her many friends, parties, trips, books, activities, and childlike love of the newest technology and gadgets.  However, and most most importantly, she was a wonderful human being, daughter, sister, wife, and mother.  I will miss you terribly, dear friend.  

As a cycling buddy of Dan, I got to know Elizabeth only later in her life.  Even so, her hearty laugh and love of life were always at the forefront.  I was especially impressed by the support that Dan offered her, and that she offered Dan.  Even though she could not participate in Dan's bike rides, she bought him dozens of bike jerseys and offered her services as sag support (driver) for some of his longer adventures.  She supported him in his bike ride across America a few years ago.  And we shared with two other couples a ride from the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway to its northern terminus in Front Royal.  I've attached a pic from that bike trip.  We will miss you, Elizabeth.

I met Elizabeth in 1975 when I was transferred to the Fort Collins Computer Center.  I will always remember her smile and laugh; her love for family and friends; and our regular fabulous ski trips. When I got engaged, she organized and hosted a bridal shower where she gave me two beautiful sterling silver candle holders which I have always treasured.  My thoughts and prayers go to Dan, Elizabeth Daniel, and Elizabeth’s family and friends. God Bless you all. 

Searched my old photos, and found this one from one of the neighborhood Valentine's parties Van and I used to host.  

I worked with her for years.  She was so generous and honest. I loved her and I will miss her so. Getting older and losing so many special people is hard. Rest in peace special person. 

Elizabeth and I dated before she met Dan.  I then met my wife Van.  Elizabeth attended my wedding and Van and I attended hers soon thereafter.  She and Dan then moved into a home around the corner from us.  We were all great friends and she and Van shared a close relationship over the years.  She and my Van (who passed on 2/20/19) were among the rare few who can become true friends with their spouse's former love interests. That includes Dan too. Elizabeth always joked to Van that she trained me well to be a good husband, and the truth is - she did. 

Elizabeth was one of my college roommates  at Mary Washington She always impressed me with her intelligence and wit. I remember freshman year I got an abscessed tooth and was in the clinic. I called her, even though she was out of town, and she came back early to console me.  She always tried to educate this small-town girl from Farmville, Virginia,  about the big wide world. She was later in my wedding in Virginia Beach. We touched base last spring and once in the summer. I regret that we did not stay in closer touch.  She was truly "one of a kind". My sincere condolences to her family. I will always remember her with fondness because she was such a beautiful part of my college life.
  

Liz was a dear high school friend and I regret not having stayed in touch.

I absolutely loved being Elizabeth’s hairstylist for close to 15 years. She was a true “ one of a kind” woman. She always made me laugh, was an amazing story teller and was so very kind. She never forgot anything you told her, and she loved sharing stories. One of my favorite memories was coming to the house to do Elizabeth Danielle’s prom hair, when she came out in that beautiful red dress and hair- her mother was just in awe! It was such a sweet moment that I’ll never forget! She loved her family fiercely, and I’m so glad I got to know them through her. I’ll never forget her! All my love to Dan, Elizabeth Danielle and the entire family.
