On Thursday, August 12, 2021, Ella Mae Jones peacefully departed this life to join her Heavenly Father.
She was born to the late Mary Louise White and Thomas Dunbar Jones Sr., in Petersburg, Virginia.
Ella enjoyed spending time with family, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and volunteering. She was an animal lover of all creatures, and love reading her bible and talking about God. It was also important for her family to have a relationship with Christ and attend church. Ella was baptized and a longtime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and ushered. In addition, Ella also followed politics, and she worked the Polls for many years. She encouraged her family to understand the world they are in and reminded them to have a say by voting.
Ella had a kind and giving heart. She would give you her last and do what she could to help anyone. It was nothing for her to send you a card with a little something in it. Ella was very proud and adored her two granddaughters. She enjoyed spending time with them; one of her favorite things to do with her grandchildren is going to the amusement parks to ride rollercoasters. In her spare time, she also enjoyed mastering video games and showing her grandchildren how to cook. Ella was fun loving, jokester and enjoyed life.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents Mary White and Thomas Jones Sr., and siblings Audrey, Thomas Jr., Edward Henry , James William , Herbert , Shirley Mae , Herman , and Gladys . Ella is survived by her two children Kim Jones, Johnny Jones (Kyree) as well as her son in Law Richard Watlington, daughter in law Ronetta Jones, two granddaughters Tameka Fernandes and husband Andrew Fernandes, Rikki Jones-Watlington, and Dorothy Bland (Dot) her last surviving sibling. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of other relatives.
