

He was a decorated combat veteran who served wartime service in the field (Vietnam Campaign Medal), while assigned to the 101st Airborne Division ("Screaming Eagles").
After Vietnam, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was assigned to the Philippines. He later transitioned to a commercial aviation career, spanning through Pan American and Delta Airlines.
Francisco raised his family in Guam, Texas, and Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alicia Mendoza Cruz; two children, Francisco Jr. (Andrea) Cruz, and Christina (Boyd) Lillard; he also had six grandchildren, Courtney, Caitlin, Kevin, Marcellino, Soren, and Gabrielle. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jeremy Frank Cruz.
He was a loving family man and cared deeply for those close to him. He always brought joy to family and friends, who will miss him very dearly. Forever in our hearts, he will always remain.
A service will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024, 10AM - 5PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Virginia with an interment and military funeral honors at Arlington National Cemetery, 1 Memorial Avenue, Arlington, Virginia, scheduled at a later date.
