Frieda Rosanna Palmer

Rosanna Palmer passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024. She was born on September 19, 1923, in Waynesboro, VA. She was the daughter of Jackson Valvelle Palmer and Frieda Jarrett Palmer. She is survived by her niece Mary Palmer Miller of Charlottesville, VA; her niece Judy Palmer Clos of Harrison Township, MI; her nephew Robert J Palmer and his wife Linda of Forest, VA; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Rosanna grew up in Salem, VA, and lived in Waynesboro after starting her last year of high school. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She was employed at Hecht’s Department Store in Arlington. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she worshipped and was loved by the Arlington congregation. She developed her talent with sewing and needlework. She made many of her clothes, did embroidery, knitting, and crochet. She made beautiful afghans and quilts. She upholstered furniture after completing a class in upholstery. She has lived at Culpepper Garden in Arlington since 1993. There she participated in various social activities and is especially remembered for her dedicated volunteer service to the residents and staff. Also she became well known at Culpepper Garden as the seamstress who will mend your clothes and do sewing alterations for others. At her last birthday, she said that she attributes her long life to keeping active, eating healthy with no caffeine, and having positive attitudes.
