Personally, I continue to miss Gus' warmth and humor as well as his considerable talent as an artist. I can only reiterate the gratitude those of us in his JSI family feel to Gus' family for having shared such a beautiful person with us for so many good years.

Gus was a good friend of mine from years back.  Just heard of his passing.  He and Larry B. and I had some great times together that will never be forgotten.  Gus loved his friends, his social life, Arlington and Georgetown.  He lived it to the full and enjoyed it.  I hope that I will see you again Gus.  -Alan.

I have not known Gus as well as you do, but I always knew that Gus was a special person, a combination of an artist and a great soul. We always had a chat in the corridor when I passed in the JSI/DC office. We will miss him dearly. Why did he have to go that early?

You were always so generous with your time; it seems unfair to me that you had so little of it. At work, your expert eye and hand made dry words beautiful. Your camera, too, was a gift to us. You were an artist in every way, making the world a little saner... and you were so very kind. You saw the possibilities in even ugly little artifacts, and then you nudged them in a way that always made them better -and you did it all enthusiastically and with a good will. You will be sorely missed.

Gus - although it's been many years since we have seen each other I'm happy that fab kept us connected - I met you way back in 1983 when we became firm friends our nights out in Georgetown were crazy and we would always spend our time laughing  you loved my English accent and always used to think you could speak 'posh' I remember when you used to say to me when I came back to England say hi to chuck and di for me lol 
We loved going to Chinese restaurants where we would laugh at our fortune cookie tabs and say yeah ok if only lol 
I loved our latest chats on FB many of which we would reminisce on our times together 
I miss you big guy and have always loved you like my best friend

Tio GUS!!! There are no words to describe how much I will miss you. My heart aches, but today I got to see you and say "goodbye", oddly I was at great peace. It was very sad, but also very comforting to see you again; I will think of you everyday. I will always remember the times you helped me with my Spanish homework, you were always a phone call away; and when I got to show you my new camera and get tips from you, that was great. Thank you so much uncle Gus. You helped me immensely and I can never repay you, I just hope that you know in you heart how much I love you. When things got tough I knew where to go for a good laugh as you told your hysterical anecdotes that would help me get over those tough moments. Cannot say how much you meant to me, Gus. The office will never be the same. Just knowing you were there made it a place I wanted to come every day. So glad we got to have fun over the years--two 48-hour film projects, your support at poetry readings, talking about politics and art. Jose and I will smile big whenever we think about you, which will be often. So very often.
