

On Thursday, April 17, 2014, after an extended illness. He is predeceased by his devoted wife, Lorette M. DeVanney. He was the father of five sons: Paul H. DeVanney (deceased), Kevin F. DeVanney (Nancy), Dennis J. DeVanney (Kevin LaVine), Timothy P. DeVanney (Philip Wielsma), Thomas A. DeVanney; six grandchildren: Michael P. DeVanney, Allair R. DeVanney, Rebecca L. DeVanney, Thomas J. DeVanney, Nicholas J. DeVanney, Brandon J. DeVanney, and three great grandchildren: Aiden R. DeVanney, Chaya L. DeVanney, and Taylor N. DeVanney.
Harry began his career in the US Navy during World War II and later earned a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology. He retired in 1980 after a long career in the Federal Government. During his career, and after “retirement”, Harry also consulted as a clinical psychologist. He was a longtime resident of McLean, VA.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Johns the Beloved Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, VA at 12 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Interment immediately following at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to your favorite charity or to The Center for Victims of Torture (web site http://www.cvt.org). Any flowers can be sent to the church.
