Harry taught me guns...lol. We did Cowboy Action Shooting together and on the way to events would hit the antique shops and flea markets.
"Whatever I wanted" lol. We had fun together. I will miss him!
I still have a framed picture of us from Singing Hills Ranch in West VA after a shoot. RIP.

What a great picture of you! Smiling and happy.
I'm glad we had a few years together and that we kept in touch. Our world will be less without you in it. I will miss talking to you and being able to see you when I get to town. All of us that knew you will miss you! Hugs and Lickies Blue. See you on the other side.

I first met Harry in the fall of 1996 when he was one of the instructors in my PI class. We shared some really fun times and too many incredibly sad times. Harry was always strong but kind, honest and dependable. I am so proud to have been his friend and like so many others, I will miss him very much. Rest in peace Harry. We will never forget you.

To the family of Harry Merchant,

I was sad to hear the news of Harry's passing. I have known Harry from my days as the General Manager of SC Security, Inc. and throughout my time with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. He will surely be missed by all who were fortunate to know him. May he rest in peace.

Ray was the first kid to befriend me when I moved to Northern VA in 1971. Through the years we drifted apart, but I'll always have fond memories of a kind and thoughtful man who the angels called home way too soon. Rest in peace, my friend.

I met Harry for the first time on Dec. 17th, 2019 in a baton training class. I was the only student in the class, and Harry was the instructor. We spent the next four hours training and also just talking about life. At the end of class I let Harry know what a great time that I had and how I looked forward to our next class together. Sadly, that day will not come.
I left that day thinking what a great man Harry was. I will never forget him.
Until that day when we shall meet again.
With Love,
William Fawcett

Harry and I have been good friends starting in high school. Throughout the years, Harry always found a way to reconnect with me. I loved his wry wit, his sense of right and wrong, and the way he treated other people. Above all else, Harry was a kind sole. I and our hunting friends, cherish all the times we spent at Rapidan Camp. The Rapidan guys are all so fortunate that Harry was able to spend the week with us last November. We are all richer for it and for our time with him.

Harry held so many long lost arts and talents firmly within his heart, mind and hands. He could make you feel as if you were the most prized person in the world. Always secure and sure of all he did, Harry meant so much to so many. This world is less without him here.
