Hennie Deboeck entered into eternal life on September 21, 2026, at the age of 80. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Guido. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, three children and their spouses, and twelve grandchildren. Hennie worked for many years for the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank, supporting the disbursement of agricultural and infrastructure loans to third-world countries in South America, Africa, and Asia. In her retirement, she helped to raise the standard of living of impoverished women around the world through her imaginative gifts eBay site.
Hennie was known for her thoughtfulness, cheerfulness, and generosity. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games with her grandchildren, and keeping in touch with numerous friends. She will be missed by many people around the world who have written of Hennie as socially involved and caring. She will also be remembered for her ambition and perseverance, for her positivity and independence, and for the stories she shared of distant travels and life in America.
A visitation will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington on Thursday, October 8, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Annandale, VA, on Friday, October 9, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens in Arlington
