

James Hensley, 88 of Falls Church, Virginia passed away at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia June 15, 2026. Born October 7, 1937 in Williamson, West Virginia, James was the son of Chad Nolan Hensley and Hathlee Messner Hensley. James began his lifelong commitment to service as a Police Officer in Rocky
North Carolina from 1960 to 1963. James joined Arlington County
Police Department December 2, 1963 and retired January 14, 1994 as Detective. James while working with the Arlington Police Department received his Master’s Degree in Science Special Studies in 1975 from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
Following his retirement, he worked with the United States Department of Justice as an Instructor with the International Criminal Investigative Program Training Centers Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. James was a Security Officer for Mclean High School for 13 years and President of the Fraternal Order of Police NOVA Lodge #35, Falls Church, Virginia.
Jim is survived by his wife Jewell, his son James wife (Lisa), his sisters Maragaret Finley, Mia Regal, brother Chad Hensley, granddaughters Caleigh Hensley, Christin Hensley, Carly Hensley, brothers-in-law Johnny Mizell wife (Sonya), Kenneth O’Dell wife (Lois).
