Janet Elaine (Fry) Offutt

Janet Elaine Fry Offutt, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023 with her children by her side. Elaine was born and raised in Springboro, Ohio on July 2, 1937, she was the daughter of Allen and Lois Fry. Elaine grew up with her siblings Arlene, Dudley, Marilyn, Barbara and Gary on their farm and was an incredible athlete and basketball player.

Elaine met her husband, Thomas J. Offutt, Jr. on a blind date while he was on leave from the Air Force. It was love at first sight and they were married on July 25, 1959. After raising their children in Arlington, Virginia, they later moved to Winchester, Virginia, where they settled to raise horses on their farm and were very active in religious activities locally and abroad doing missionary work.

Elaine enjoyed reading, word puzzles and spending time with their family. She will be remembered as generous, compassionate, patient and kind by all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in those who shared her genuine love of family and lively spirit.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Offutt, Jr., her parents, Allen and Lois Fry and her great granddaughter, Evie. She leaves behind her children; Cindy Wasyln (Paul), of Culpeper, VA, Thomas J. Offutt, III (Lara), of Arlington, VA, and Edith Williams (Michael) of Port Richey, FL. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Zach Williams, Joey Williams, Elena Kittle and her husband Matt, Alston Offutt, Sam Offutt, Grayson Offutt and John Offutt; five great grandchildren, Thomas, Ellie, William, Michael and Charlie; and many more loving family members.

The family extends thanks and deepest gratitude to the caretakers and the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont in Culpeper, Virginia for expert comfort provided during her last days.

A visitation for Elaine will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Murphy Funeral Homes, followed by a service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery.
