Jeanne Elizabeth (Dolan) Brady, 51, Falls Church, Virginia, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Jeanne was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1970, in St Louis, Missouri to Dr. Gerald F. Dolan and Mary M. (Moran) Dolan. She attended Clayton Grade and High Schools, graduating in 1989. She graduated from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1994. She then continued her education, graduating from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2002, and from Boston University with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2007 and a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy in 2012. Her Doctoral Dissertation addressed Increasing Awareness and Understanding of the Wounded Warriors: A New and Emerging Client Population. Jeanne and Colonel Richard T. “Rich” Brady, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired) were united in marriage on April 25, 1998, at the Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, - the “Old Cathedral” – in St Louis, Missouri. She was looking forward to celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2023 with much anticipation. As a military spouse, Jeanne joyfully travelled the world with Rich’s career in the Marine Corps. Throughout their military life they were stationed at Camp Pendleton, California; Monterey, California; Okinawa, Japan; Quantico, Virginia; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia; and multiple tours in Washington DC. Jeanne met friends everywhere she went and added immensely to the military-family community. Rich’s accomplishments in the Marine Corps are due in large part to Jeanne’s personal sacrifice, commitment, and patriotism. The proudest accomplishment of Jeanne’s life – her daughter Katherine Grace – was born on April 10, 2005 in Okinawa, Japan. Jeanne cherished the role of being a mother. Her compassion and love for Katherine is evident in the incredible bond they share and in Katherine’s strength, empathy, wit, resilience, and courage. When asked to describe her mother in one word, Katherine did not hesitate to respond, “selfless”. Jeanne worked as an Occupational Therapist in a variety of settings throughout her career, including schools, nursing facilities, hospitals, and outpatient rehabilitation centers. Since 2013, first in-person and then remotely, she worked for the McLain Association for Children in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, providing training for occupational and physical therapists and services to children with developmental disabilities. Since 2015, she worked as a Senior Occupational Therapist in the Rehabilitation Department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, focusing on acute care rehabilitation. In 2020, she became a Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist. Jeanne had many hobbies, including reading, running, and investigating ancestry. Her preferred reading genre was historical fiction and she spent countless hours in the evening scouring old newspapers and public records online discovering ancestry information about her family and just about any other family that looked interesting. She was an accomplished runner from High School, participating in track competitions at the Missouri State-level and later running the Marine Corps, New York, and Chicago marathons. Everything she put her mind and body into she did with passion and a fighting spirit that was inspirational for all and lives on through Katherine. Survivors include her husband, Richard T. Brady, and daughter, Katherine Brady, of the family’s home in Falls Church, Virginia; her mother, Mary M. Dolan of St. Louis, Missouri; her sisters Mary Ellen (Tim) McWay, St Louis, Missouri, Kathleen Dolan, Columbia, Missouri, Julia Dolan, St Louis, Missouri, and Sara (Todd) Hawes, Leesburg, Virginia; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Gerald F. Dolan. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Arlington, Virginia, with Rev. Ramel O. Portula, C.I.C.M. as celebrant. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Those unable to attend the Mass of Christian Burial in person can view a live stream of the event at the link on this page. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the No One Should Die Alone Foundation (https://nosdaf.com/) or the Dr. Annette Moran, C.J.S. Endowed Scholarship in Humanities at Carroll College (https://www.carroll.edu/give).
