I just saw this notice about Lanny from so many years ago, so possibly no one will see this. I was looking  at photos from my wedding (Lanny was in the wedding party) and began wondering about him and Mary Jo. I have fond memories of them both. They were good friends in college and we kept in touch for many years. I hope he had a good and fulfilling life. I am very sorry for your loss.

I was saddened to hear of John's passing.  Although we have not been in contact for many, many years, I fondly remember him as a good friend from Tachikawa, Japan where we lived and went to school when our fathers were stationed there in the mid-50's.  I wish I had had the opportunity to visit with him again and catch up on our lives . His family and friends are in my thoughts.

John was one of the finest officers I knew in his and my long careers.  He was one of the few people I met in my life who could work effectively and efficiently for long hours.  He was a superb writer of the English language and he was really fast.  He had a great sense of humor (we laughed a lot in Bonn) and a sense of fair play. He was not just operational but substantive on subject matter as well.  He loved the organization, he loved his family and he loved the people with whom he worked.  My best to Mary Jo and his children sharing the best of memories.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, Mary Jo, Jeannie, Gwynn and John, and your extended families.  The sting of your loss will lessen in time, but your memories will always be strong.  May those memories give you comfort always.

My sincere condolences -- I am so sorry to hear of your loss (or all of ours who new him)! He certainly was a man with a wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by many! You are in my thoughts and prayers.

We are very sad with John's departure.  A wonderful person in all respects, a  great leader, loyal friend of many throughout the world, graced with a dry wit, and brilliant in so many ways. We were saddened to read John's obituary notice in the paper. John was one of our endearing, humorous, and longtime clients at Waverly Auctions, for many year at the Bethesda location and later in Falls Church. We will miss him.
