John was born on July 14, 1972. He grew up alongside his siblings in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and attended St. John Vianney High School, where he was crowned Prom King at his Senior Prom—a fitting distinction for someone who would go on to win the hearts of so many throughout his life.
After graduating from Kutztown University, John settled in Arlington, Virginia, where he worked for the NRA, AMS, CGI, Booz Allen, and most recently Intact as a high level consultant with the United States government.
John was a lifelong photographer and avid traveler. He dedicated his professional career to serving others through his work, supporting national security and numerous federal agencies, including the NRO, DIA, Army, and GSA. He was a trusted leader and mentor who took pride in solving complex challenges, improving how organizations worked, and helping others succeed. John was especially proud of earning and maintaining his Top Secret/SCI security clearance, reflecting the trust placed in him and his commitment to serving our nation. He also served four times in leadership roles supporting Presidential Transition Teams, helping new administrations navigate critical technological and operational transitions, and brought his experience and dedication to his work with AMS, CGI, and the NRA.
To know John was to love him. He had a remarkable way of making people feel at home, no invitation necessary.
John leaves behind a legacy defined not by what he had, but by what he gave: his time, his generosity, his humor, his home, and, above all, his love. He had an extraordinary ability to bring people together and make them feel like family. The countless lives he touched are a testament to the kind of person he was and the lasting impact he leaves behind.
John is survived by his parents, John “Jack” and Patricia Macready; his siblings, Melanie Macready, Jereme Macready (Brittany), Brandon Macready (Jessi), and Darren Macready; he was a devoted Uncle to Sophia, Eva, Fiona, Quinn, and Delaney - who meant the world to him - his cousins, aunts, and uncles; and the many friends he loved as family.
