JOSEPH LEWIS KOACH (Age 89) On January 25, 2014, Joseph Lewis Koach passed away, having suffered a stroke in June of 2012. Joe was the youngest of five children born to Italian immigrant parents Carl and Anna Curcio in the coal-mining town of Windber, PA, where he grew up. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was selected for the officer training program, serving during World War II from 1942 through 1945. He graduated from George Washington University in 1947 and pursued a life-long career in association management and small-business development. For most of the past 67 years, Joe lived in Arlington, VA. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rochana Koach, who resides in an Alzheimer’s facility, and six children, Tony Koach, Damon Koach, Muftiah McCartin, Margaret Kirk, Wesley Koach and Lucas Koach. Joe is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Nathan Koach, Marissa Mason, Isaac Koach, Elaine McCartin, Sandra McCartin, Lucas McCartin, Laura Kirk, Alton Kirk, Michael Koach, Desiree Koach, Charles Koach and Elizabeth Koach, two great-grandchildren, Thaddius and Shaylin Mason, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his long-time caregiver, Kidist Negash, whom he often referred to as his daughter. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Homes 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA. Reception at Dominion Hills Community House 6000 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA.
