Judith Munson DeLashmutt was born January 21, 1938 in Omaha Nebraska. Her family moved to Lincoln while in her youth, where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She attended Doane College, then married and moved to Arlington Virginia, where she found great joy in raising her three children. She took on several volunteer roles at church and in the schools. Her most fulfilling work was her work for the Florence Crittenton Home in Washington D.C., which she helped convert from a residential home to an outreach program (Crittenton Services of Greater Washington) working to teach life skills and self-confidence to at-risk teen girls. She filled several roles from volunteer to Executive Director of the organization over her many years of dedicated service. She later enjoyed working several years for a local accounting firm until she retired fully.
Judy was very proud of her Scottish heritage and passed the time on several different genealogy projects. She was fiercely independent, living alone in her home in McLean for the past 27 years. She loved to complete intricate needlepoint projects and travel with her children and extended family members. She was able to complete a lifelong goal of traveling to Scotland in 2023 with her family there to accompany her.
Judy was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family immensely. She was generous and kind in every way.
Judy is survived by three children: Charles DeLashmutt (Heather), Chris DeLashmutt (Sharon Heinle), and Anna Lee Grinder (Donald). In addition to her children, she is also survived by three grandchildren: Courtlan Grinder, Jackson Grinder and Jacob DeLashmutt. Judy provided a great example of living a good and virtuous life. She had an everlasting impact upon her family and will be held close in their hearts always.
A private memorial service will be held in the near future.
