Judith Margaret Lillis (Giddings, Groom)

Born on February 3rd, 1954 on Tick Fen Farm in the village of Warboys, Huntingdon U.K., Judith was the daughter of Sidney Francis and Kathleen Mary Groom (Munton). She grew up in the village of Sawtry, Huntingdon U.K and graduated from Orton Longueville Grammar School in 1971. She immigrated to the United States in 1975 at the age of 21, where she worked as a teleprinter and later as a retail sales associate for a number of firms over the years. In 1996, she married her late husband John Michael “Jack” Lillis Sr. and together they raised their son, John Michael Lillis Jr.

She was blessed with a large family on both sides of the pond, with numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and great friends. She is survived by her son, John Michael Lillis, Jr.; her sisters Caroline Sheets (Groom) and Janet Gorgei (Munton); her brother Adrian Groom; sisters & brothers in-law Joseph “Pat”, Catherine “Cathy”, Gerard “Gerry”, William “Billy”, Robert “Bobby” and Michael “Mike” Lillis; and her aunt Beatrice "Betty" Gibbons (Munton). She is preceded by her late husband, John Michael “Jack” Lillis Sr.; her parents Sidney Francis and Kathleen Mary Groom (Munton); her grandparents William Munton and Kate Munton (Rowell); her father and mother in-law James F. “Big Jim” and Catherine Lillis (Clinton); and brothers in-law Christopher and James F. “Jim”.

Committal and burial services will be held at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201 on Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00pm.
